One of the most fun parts of the early project was creating character concepts -- for the central characters as well as for beloved members of the crew. Some were easy (Buttons... is naked! Done.) and some were much more involved. As we planned, it also became clear that the expanded inn needed a blueprint, too, if we were going to make any of the action make any sense.

Part of the charm and the joy of this project has always been the many different visual styles and artistic visions that have gone into it, but what we didn't want was a situation where in one frame, Ed's in his leathers with his hair down, and the next line, he's in his regular dude clothes with an updo. Character concepts gave the artists a template on which to build.

With input from the other co-captains, Tresdem created the character concepts, and LibRoseITM created the inn blueprint. Not all of the details made it into the final animatic, especially some of the details of the new looks of the crew of the Revenge. Since we didn't have Samba to film every step of the process, we offer these as BTS instead!
